The University supports three full-time New Testament posts in the Faculty of Theology and Religion, of which the third is expected to be newly filled in 2019-2020.:
Dean Ireland’s Professor of the Exegesis of Holy Scripture; Fellow of Keble College
Associate Professor in New Testament Studies; G.B. Caird Tutorial Fellow in Theology at Mansfield College
Clarendon-Laing Associate Professor in New Testament Studies; Tutorial Fellow in Theology and Religion at Keble College
For 2018-2019 the team is supported by Dr Christine Joynes as a Departmental Lecturer in New Testament, currently based at Keble College. Dr Joynes is also the Director of the Centre for Reception History of the Bible.
For 2018-2020 we have been joined by Dr Daniel Schumann (previously at the University of Münster) as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow funded by the European Research Council. Dr Schumann’s research project concerns comparative of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the New Testament. He is a Research Associate at Keble College as well as a Visiting Scholar at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies.
A number of other research-active New Testament scholars in Oxford are also Members or Associate Members of the Faculty of Theology and Religion. They do not hold professorships or associate professorships in the Faculty but may be employed elsewhere in the University or in Colleges or Permanent Private Halls, or alternatively retired but still active in or near Oxford.
